SHARP PARK MEETING

Sharp Park is on this Thursday's Recreation and Park Commission agenda as an action item.
Please email the Commissioners to let them know you want them to wait to take action on Sharp Park until there has been adequate opportunity for public and stakeholder dialog on the issue.

Please consider attending this meeting to advocate for the restoration of Sharp Park!

 

CRAIG DAWSON FOR COX CONSERVES HERO!

The Mount Sutro Stewards Director, and Nature in the City Steering Committee member, Craig Dawson, has been selected as one of five finalists in the San Francisco Bay Area's Cox Conserves Heroes program, a national awards program to honor and celebrate conservation in everyday life.

The winning Hero, chosen by online public vote, will be awarded $5,000 to donate to the environmental nonprofit of his or her choice. Please support our local hero, Craig Dawson, by casting your vote in support of the Mount Sutro Stewards program and their successful effort at reclaiming Sutro Forest for all to use.

For more than 25 years, James Balog has photographed nature in a way that challenges our perceptions and our presumptions. He has received international acclaim, and is the recipient of the Leica Medal of Excellence and awards for photography and nature at World Press Photo in Amsterdam. In Extreme Ice Now, his latest—and ongoing—project, Balog combines art and science to vividly illustrate how global warming is forever altering the world we live in.

 

MISSON GREENBELT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

24th and Lilac (between Mission and S. Van Ness)
11 a.m.

Come help the Mission Greenbelt Project transform ten empty tree basins along lower 24th St. Amber will have a truck, soil, tools and a map. The action plan is to excavate soil in existing tree basins, add fresh soil and sow native California wildflower seeds.
