Alemany Natives

3rd SUNDAYS, 1 -4 pm, at Alemany Farm. Are you interested in gardening for habitat? Helping to create a location within an extraordinary entirely volunteer-run 4.5 acre urban farm, where visitors of all ages can also learn about local ecology and native plants?

Alemany Natives is looking for dedicated individuals who will volunteer to help to create and steward just such an area, build a volunteer team, and to create an educational resource from this special native plant area at Alemany Farm. The goal is for this area to provide a valuable habitat resource for birds, butterflies, pollinators & other species, while also serving as an educational resource for visitors of all ages to learn about native plants, local ecologies, and about increasing habitat value in an urban environment. Native plant areas bordering planted gardens additionally increase the health and vitality of cultivated spaces, as well as our enjoyment in them. To help, please contact Iris Clearwater.

Every week in San Francisco, schools, businesses, volunteer groups, and members of the public help steward the City's wildlands through rare plant community & wildlife  habitat restoration.

Habitat restoration & stewardship gives you the opportunity to participate in the City's dynamic and enduring natural history and to connect with nature "in your own backyard."

Habitat restoration takes place in wildlands all over the City, in nearly every watershed! Volunteer work spans the full seasonal cycle of restoration: from seed collecting, propagating seedlings in the nursery, planting native plants in restoration sites, weeding invasive plants, to monitoring the results of restoration efforts. Stewards help with rare plant and wildlife monitoring, preventing soil erosion, trail construction & maintenance, and engaging the public.
