Green Hairstreak Corridor Volunteer Workday

  • Tiled Steps 1699 16th Avenue San Francisco, CA, 94122 United States (map)

Help us transplant, prune, weed, and sow seeds for native plants like coast buckwheat, seaside daisy, and deer weed! We grow plants from resilient, local native seeds to ensure the survival of plants, butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife. Learn more about the Green Hairstreak Corridor project here.

This workday happens every third Saturday of the month. Sign up on Meetup or drop in when you can.

Beginning in November and continuing through March, we will meet at various sites throughout the Green Hairstreak Corridor to plant all of the native plants you have helped nurture thus far! The rainy season will help establish these plants on site and build on habitat restoration efforts for the threatened Green Hairstreak Butterfly.

We emphasize biodiverse and ecologically relevant plants, and you will get to learn about many of our important native plant species. Be ready for activities like weeding, planting, pruning, and other land maintenance tasks.

We often work in light rain, but heavy rain cancels.

What to bring:

  • long pants and layers (clothes that might get dirty!)

  • closed-toe shoes

  • water bottle

  • sun protection

Please sign our volunteer waiver before you arrive!

There is no public restroom available in the corridor so please plan accordingly.
