Nature in the City and our fiscal sponsor Earth Island Institute offer ways to support our Mission & Impact that are as diverse as you are. Individuals & Families

Your donations support ongoing habitat restoration and events that are free and open to the public. Here are ways you can support us:

  • Visit our Donate page and choose to give today! Consider spreading your gift over the year and become a monthly sustainer.

  • Write a check to Earth Island Institute with Nature in the City in the memo line and mail it to Earth Island Institute, 2150 Allston Way, Suite 460, Berkeley, California 94704.

  • Make strategic charitable decisions by contributing with a donor advised fund (DAF). If you’re unsure what that is, here is a great resource that describes DAF benefits.

  • Explore Earth Island Institute’s More Ways to Give page and see if there’s an option that’s right for you. Earth Island extends the same giving options to us. Just make sure to designate your gift to Nature in the City!

Our Nature Guardians, those who give at the $500 or more level, are invited to private, behind-the-scenes tours and events that happen twice a year and include time for joyful learning, connecting with likeminded people, and delicious food and drinks.

Corporations

Donations from local San Francisco companies support our general operations and specific projects. Here are ways corporations can support us:

  • Give back by sponsoring our community-based public habitat restoration workdays or nature walks. These programs connect employees to the city where you do business and increase the quality of life and habitat in San Francisco. We offer six month and annual sponsorship options.

  • Strengthen your team by letting us custom-design an expert-guided nature walk or volunteer experience. Fees from these events support our general operations.

  • Learn more about specifics, whether it be setting up regular volunteer workdays, annual renewable support, one-time grants, matching employee donations, or something new!

Grants

Private family foundation grants and competitive public grants make up about one third of our annual operating budget. In tandem with donations and our fee-for service programs, we operate efficiently and skillfully to connect everyone in San Francisco to local nature.

Grants can be allocated to specific areas of our work, projects, or to help us support our staff and general operations. These innovative projects have been supported in part with grant funding:

If your foundation appreciates the work we do and would like to support us, we are happy to provide information that would aid your decision-making, such as a project-based proposal, information we’ve collected about the impacts of our work, testimonials from other grantors, and financial reports.
