Volunteer
Nature in the City aims to create and connect resilient ecosystems and communities throughout San Francisco — and we can’t do it alone. Volunteer to help us ensure a healthy and biodiverse San Francisco now and for generations to come. Visit our Nature Walks & Events page to sign up for an upcoming workday.
Community Workdays
Our habitat stewardship workdays equip volunteers with the knowledge and resources they need to restore and keep habitats healthy in San Francisco. Together, we can conserve plants and wildlife, ensuring survival of San Francisco’s biodiversity and ecosystem health and providing access to nature for everyone. No experience necessary. Join one of our workdays and we’ll provide tools and teach you what you need to know to help nature thrive in our beautiful city.
Corporate Events
We welcome corporate and group volunteers who want to build their team’s camaraderie while restoring habitat — definitely a win-win! Get outside, take in the fresh air and natural beauty, and help us care for San Francisco’s nature. Ranging from 2–4 hours long, our volunteer opportunities require coordination, water, refreshments or lunch, supplies, and volunteer management. Contact us to design your custom event today.
Keystone Volunteers
Our Keystone Volunteers are the heartbeat of Nature in the City and receive exclusive benefits! They serve regularly as site stewards, contribute their expertise on our Advisory Council, manage our outreach and swag, and support key projects that strengthen our work. No experience is necessary — if you’re ready to share your time, skills, or passion, we’ll provide the guidance and tools you need to make a lasting impact on the city’s biodiversity and access to nature for everyone. If you’re a student or just starting out on your career journey, perhaps you’d like to join us as an intern or serve on our Youth in Action Council.
