Community Engagement
By connecting nature and people, we aim to ensure the health and future of our city’s natural biodiversity. And we want to ensure the benefits of nature are shared equally by all. Join us in learning about San Francisco’s nature through our free Nature Walks, Youth in Action program, and Nature in the City Map.
Public Nature Walks
Our free, expert-led nature walks attract hundreds of people every year. By exploring beautiful landscapes that support native biodiversity, we aim to foster a community that is passionate about protecting urban nature for everyone, for generations to come. Come meet other nature lovers and discover San Francisco's natural beauty and heritage. Become a Nature in the City supporter to receive early-bird invitations to special events.
Youth in Action
Our Youth in Action program aims to break down barriers by offering fun and engaging nature experiences for San Francisco’s young people. We hope to bring nature into your life, teach you about native habitats, and introduce you to meaningful volunteering opportunities. And we want to hear about your dreams and concerns while together we build a youth community that is passionate about nature in their communities across San Francisco.
Nature in the City Map
The Nature in the City Map highlights trails, natural areas, and local species right here in San Francisco, using both artistic beauty and scientific insight. One side shows the entire city, while the flip side highlights local, regional, continental, and global details across space and time. In our densely-developed city, the need for human and nature connection has never been more acute. Now you can easily make that connection with our map.
