Join Nature in the City in partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District and CalFire for a community workday at Bret Harte Elementary School. Bret Harte is one of four schools Nature in the City is partnering with to help green their schoolyard and launch a community habitat stewardship program.

There will be workdays at this site intermittently from Spring 2026 through Spring 2027.

The workday tasks vary from month to month, but be ready to get your hands dirty!

With your help, we will be adding native plants, learning how to prune, fertilize, and mulch. We will also be tracking native wildlife using the iNaturalist app and inviting local experts to share valuable information on gardening in San Francisco!

What to bring:

• long pants and layers (clothes that might get dirty!)

• closed-toe shoes

• water bottle

• sun protection

**Tools and lunch will be provided

Getting to the Bret Harte:

• Street parking is available
