Note: From November through March these workdays will be held in the Green Hairstreak Corridor where we will be planting native species as part of our habitat restoration efforts.
Join the Backyard Nursery Network and assist us in transplanting, pruning, weeding, seed sowing, and general upkeep of our nursery at White Crane Springs Community Garden.
This workday happens every first Sunday of the month. Sign up on Meetup or drop in when you can.
Nature in the City started the Backyard Nursery Network to preserve native plants like coast buckwheat, seaside daisy, and deer weed, which provide habitat for local species. Growing these plants from resilient native seed genetics ensures the survival of endangered plants and our local butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife.
Most of these plants go to the Green Hairstreak Corridor planting projects in the Inner Sunset.
The workday tasks vary from month to month, but be ready to get your hands dirty! We often work in light rain, but heavy rain cancels.
What to bring:
long pants and layers (clothes that might get dirty!)
closed-toe shoes
water bottle
sun protection
Please sign our volunteer waiver before you arrive!
Parking is available on Locksley Ave. There is no public restroom in the community garden.
